22
FAUCET Score

CVE-1999-1235 describes a vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 where FTP usernames and passwords were inadvertently stored in the URL history (index.dat file). This allowed local users to access credentials from another user's profile or enabled "shoulder surfing" attackers to view them in the status bar. Rated as MEDIUM severity (CVSS 4.6), this vulnerability required local access or physical proximity for exploitation, leading to potential compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While no active exploitation is noted and community discussion is minimal, an ExploitDB entry exists (EDB-19473) detailing the password storage issue.
