CVE-2026-4424 identifies a heap out-of-bounds read vulnerability in libarchive's RAR archive processing logic, caused by improper validation of the LZSS sliding window size. This high-severity flaw (CVSS 7.5) allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to disclose sensitive heap memory information by providing a specially crafted RAR archive, requiring no user interaction. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community attention for this vulnerability.
