Mastodon versions prior to 4.5.8, 4.4.15, and 4.3.21 are vulnerable to an unauthenticated Open Redirect (CWE-601) in the /web/* route due to improper handling of URL-encoded path segments. This medium-severity vulnerability (CVSS 6.1) allows an attacker to craft a specially encoded URL that, upon user interaction, redirects them to an arbitrary external domain, enabling phishing and potential OAuth credential theft with low attack complexity and no authentication required. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code availability, or significant community discussion or media coverage for this CVE.
