CVE-2026-33335 is a high-severity vulnerability (CVSS 8.0) in Vikunja Desktop Electron wrapper versions 0.21.0 through 2.1.x, stemming from a lack of URL validation for `shell.openExternal()` calls. An attacker can exploit this by embedding a malicious link in user-generated content, which, upon user interaction, allows the victim's operating system to open arbitrary URI schemes, potentially invoking local applications or files, leading to high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite requiring user interaction, this flaw presents a significant risk; however, there is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion, nor is it on the CISA KEV list.
