CVE-2025-8766 is a container privilege escalation vulnerability found in certain Multi-Cloud Object Gateway Core images. This flaw allows an attacker to gain full root privileges within an affected container by leveraging group-writable permissions on the /etc/passwd file to add a new root user. Rated Medium with a CVSS score of 6.4, exploitation requires an attacker to already possess high privileges and local command execution, making the attack complexity high but leading to complete container compromise. Currently, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion or media coverage for this vulnerability.
