CVE-2025-55001 describes a vulnerability in OpenBao versions 2.3.1 and below, where the LDAP authentication method, when configured with username_as_alias=true, failed to normalize caller-supplied usernames. This flaw allowed an authenticated attacker to bypass alias-specific Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) requirements. With a CVSS score of 6.5 (Medium), this vulnerability has a network attack vector, low attack complexity, and high impact on confidentiality and integrity.
