CVE-2025-53002 is a critical remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability affecting LLaMA-Factory versions up to and including 0.9.3. Attackers can exploit this by passing a malicious Checkpoint path parameter through the WebUI during the training process, leading to arbitrary code execution due to improper loading of the vhead_file. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability has a network attack vector, low attack complexity, and requires no user interaction, allowing for complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The attack is stealthy, making detection difficult for victims. Currently, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage. A fix is available in LLaMA-Factory version 0.9.4.
