CVE-2025-23395 describes a privilege escalation vulnerability in Screen 5.0.0 when configured with setuid-root. An unprivileged user can exploit this by manipulating a user-supplied path, allowing the creation of files with root ownership in arbitrary locations. This flaw, rated High severity (CVSS 7.8), enables an attacker to log PTY data to these files, ultimately leading to root privilege escalation. Currently, there is no public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB) and no evidence of active exploitation or significant community discussion.
