CVE-2024-9488 is a critical authentication bypass vulnerability affecting all versions of the Comments – wpDiscuz plugin for WordPress up to and including 7.6.24. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to log in as any existing user, including administrators, by exploiting insufficient verification of social login tokens, provided they know the user's email and the user lacks an existing account with the social login service. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), the vulnerability has a network-based attack vector, low attack complexity, and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
