CVE-2024-9265

28
FAUCET Score

CVE-2024-9265 describes a critical privilege escalation vulnerability in all versions up to and including 5.4.6 of the Echo RSS Feed Post Generator plugin for WordPress. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers to register as administrators due to insufficient role restriction during user registration via the echo_check_post_header_sent() function. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL), the vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with no user interaction, leading to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While no public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB) or active exploitation (KEV) has been observed, and community discussion and media coverage are minimal, the high severity warrants immediate patching.
