CVE-2024-6829 is a critical vulnerability affecting aimhubio/aim version 3.19.3, allowing attackers to exploit the tarfile.extractall() function. By manipulating repository paths and run hashes, an attacker can bypass directory checks and extract malicious tarfile contents to arbitrary locations on the host server. This flaw, rated 9.1 CRITICAL (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H), enables arbitrary file writes, potentially leading to critical file overwrites or the installation of unauthorized SSH keys. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.
