It allows unauthenticated attackers to perform arbitrary option updates and create administrator accounts due to missing authorization checks in REST API calls. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (Critical) and an EPSS score of 0.90038, this flaw presents a severe risk, enabling full compromise of affected WordPress sites. While there is no evidence of active exploitation or Metasploit modules, Nuclei templates exist for unauthenticated user creation, indicating readily available exploit code.
