CVE-2024-45291 is a critical Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability affecting PHPSpreadsheet versions prior to 1.29.2, 2.1.1, and 2.3.0. An attacker can craft a malicious XLSX file that, when processed with image embedding enabled, allows for arbitrary file reading on the server and arbitrary HTTP GET requests. This vulnerability carries a CVSS score of 8.8 (HIGH) due to its network-based attack vector, low complexity, and high potential for confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts, including possible remote code execution if specific PHP wrappers are enabled.
