CVE-2024-41954

22
FAUCET Score

CVE-2024-41954 affects FOG, an imaging and inventory management system, specifically versions prior to 1.5.10.41. The vulnerability stems from the application storing plaintext service account credentials in a world-readable file, "/opt/fog/.fogsettings". This allows any local user to access sensitive credentials, leading to a high-severity risk (CVSS 7.8). Exploiting this, an attacker could create new web application accounts and potentially gain extensive control over the system, impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Currently, there is no public exploit code, Metasploit module, or Nuclei template available, and it has not been added to CISA's KEV catalog. Community discussion and media coverage for this CVE are also minimal.
