CVE-2024-36982 is a null pointer reference vulnerability affecting Splunk Enterprise versions below 9.2.2, 9.1.5, and 9.0.10, and Splunk Cloud Platform versions below 9.1.2312.109 and 9.1.2308.207. An unauthenticated attacker can trigger this flaw via the cluster/config REST endpoint, leading to a denial-of-service condition by crashing the Splunk daemon. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (HIGH), this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low complexity and no user interaction required.
