CVE-2024-27309

24
FAUCET Score

CVE-2024-27309 is a high-severity vulnerability affecting Apache Kafka during migration from ZooKeeper to KRaft mode, where Access Control Lists (ACLs) may not be correctly enforced under specific conditions. This flaw occurs when an administrator removes an ACL from a resource that still has two or more other ACLs, causing Kafka to incorrectly treat the resource as having fewer ACLs than it actually does. With a CVSS score of 7.4, the vulnerability has a network attack vector and high impact on confidentiality and integrity if DENY ACLs are configured, potentially leading to unauthorized access. The issue is resolved by completing the migration or adding a new ACL to the affected resource. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
