CVE-2024-27308 is a critical vulnerability affecting the Mio Rust library (versions 0.7.2 to 0.8.10) and, consequently, Tokio (versions 1.30.0 and later when used with vulnerable Mio versions) on Windows systems utilizing named pipes. It allows Mio to return invalid tokens for deregistered named pipes, potentially leading to a use-after-free condition. With a CVSS score of 9.1 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability has a low attack complexity and can result in high impact to integrity and availability.
