CVE-2024-23963 is a critical vulnerability affecting Alpine Halo9 devices (alpsalpine ilx-f509 and its firmware) that allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code. The flaw, a stack-based buffer overflow in the PBAP_DecodeVCARD function, stems from insufficient validation of user-supplied data length. With a CVSS score of 8.0 (High), exploitation requires an attacker to first pair a malicious Bluetooth device, leading to root-level code execution.
