CVE-2024-20342 is a high-severity vulnerability (CVSS 8.6) in the Snort detection engine's rate filtering feature, affecting Cisco Firepower Threat Defense Software and Cisco Snort. This flaw, stemming from an incorrect connection count comparison, allows an unauthenticated, remote attacker to bypass configured rate limiting filters. By sending traffic exceeding the filter's threshold, an attacker can permit unintended traffic into the protected network.
