CVE-2024-1724 is a high-severity vulnerability affecting Canonical snapd versions prior to 2.62, where snapd failed to restrict writes to the $HOME/bin path when AppArmor was used for sandbox enforcement. An attacker could exploit this by convincing a user to install a malicious snap utilizing the 'home' plug, allowing them to place arbitrary scripts into the user's PATH. This could lead to execution of code outside the snap sandbox, resulting in a complete escape of confinement with high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this vulnerability.
