CVE-2024-1496 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting all versions up to 4.6.2 of the Featured Image from URL (FIFU) plugin for WordPress. This flaw, caused by insufficient input sanitization and output escaping, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious web scripts into pages. When a user views an affected page, these scripts will execute, potentially leading to information disclosure or defacement. Rated with a CVSS score of 5.4 (Medium), this vulnerability requires user interaction and authenticated access, but its impact includes low confidentiality and integrity compromise.
