CVE-2024-1485 is a critical vulnerability (CVSS 9.3) in the decompression function of registry-support, affecting devfile openshift and related Red Hat products. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this by tricking a user into parsing a malicious devfile, leading to the download of a harmful archive. This can cause the cleanup process to overwrite or delete files outside the intended archive, resulting in high impact to integrity and availability. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.
