CVE-2023-6506 describes an Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) vulnerability in the WP 2FA – Two-factor authentication for WordPress plugin, affecting all versions up to and including 2.5.0. This flaw allows authenticated attackers with subscriber-level privileges to email arbitrary users on the WordPress site by manipulating a user-controlled key in the send_backup_codes_email function. Rated as Medium severity (CVSS 4.3), the vulnerability has a low attack complexity and can lead to a limited impact on integrity (emailing unintended recipients). There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
