CVE-2023-5770 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Proofpoint Enterprise Protection versions prior to specific patches (8.20.2 patch 4809, 8.20.0 patch 4805, 8.18.6 patch 4804, and all earlier versions). An unauthenticated attacker can inject improperly encoded HTML into email bodies via the subject line due to incorrect encoding during email rewriting. This allows for low impact to confidentiality and integrity with no availability impact, requiring user interaction for exploitation. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.
