CVE-2023-48123 is a critical remote code execution vulnerability affecting Netgate pfSense Plus v23.05.1 and earlier, and pfSense CE v2.7.0. An authenticated remote attacker can exploit this flaw by sending a specially crafted request to the packet_capture.php file. With a CVSS score of 8.8 (High), this vulnerability allows for complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system. Despite its high severity and potential for significant impact, there is currently no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
