CVE-2023-46248 is a critical Remote Code Execution vulnerability affecting Sourcegraph Cody AI VSCode extension versions 0.10.0 through 0.14.0. An attacker can modify the .vscode/cody.json file in a malicious repository to overwrite Cody commands, leading to arbitrary code execution if a user opens the repository and executes an overwritten command. While rated as high severity (CVSS 8.8) with high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability, exploitability is low as it requires user interaction with a malicious repository. There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage. The issue is fixed in version 0.14.1, and users unable to upgrade should avoid opening untrusted repositories with the extension loaded.
