CVE-2023-45673 is a critical remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability in Joplin, a free and open-source note-taking application, affecting versions prior to 2.13.3. This flaw allows an attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands by tricking a user into clicking a link within a PDF attached to an untrusted note. The vulnerability stems from Joplin's failure to disable top redirection for note viewer iframes and having node integration enabled. With a CVSS score of 9.0 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability has a low attack complexity and requires user interaction, but can lead to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no known active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
