CVE-2023-40586 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting OWASP Coraza WAF, a ModSecurity-compatible web application firewall library. An attacker can crash applications using Coraza by sending crafted requests that trigger an error in mime.ParseMediaType, leading to the misuse of log.Fatalf. This high-severity vulnerability (CVSS 7.5) is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity, resulting in a complete loss of availability for the affected application.
