CVE-2023-40577 is a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting Prometheus Alertmanager versions prior to 0.2.51, as well as Debian Alertmanager and Debian Linux distributions. An authenticated attacker with POST request permissions to the /api/v1/alerts endpoint can inject and execute arbitrary JavaScript code in the browsers of Alertmanager users. Rated with a CVSS score of 5.4 (Medium), this vulnerability requires user interaction and low privileges, potentially leading to limited impact on confidentiality and integrity.
