26
FAUCET Score

CVE-2023-40260 describes a critical authentication bypass vulnerability in EmpowerID versions prior to 7.205.0.1. An attacker, knowing a user's primary credentials, can change the account's associated email address, effectively redirecting and capturing MFA codes to an attacker-controlled inbox. This allows full account takeover despite MFA being enabled. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 9.1 (Critical), indicating a high-impact attack that can be executed remotely with low complexity and no user interaction, leading to complete confidentiality and integrity compromise. Currently, there is no public exploit code available (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), nor is there any evidence of active exploitation. Community discussion and media coverage for this CVE are minimal.
