CVE-2023-40029

29
FAUCET Score

CVE-2023-40029 is a critical vulnerability in Argo CD, a declarative continuous deployment tool for Kubernetes, affecting versions prior to 2.8.3, 2.7.14, and 2.6.15. It allows authenticated users with "clusters, get" RBAC access to retrieve sensitive cluster secret information, such as bearer tokens, from the kubectl.kubernetes.io/last-applied-configuration annotation. With a CVSS score of 9.6, this vulnerability has a network attack vector, low attack complexity, and high impact on confidentiality and integrity. While there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion, immediate patching or implementing server-side apply for cluster secrets is strongly recommended to mitigate the risk.
