CVE-2023-38745 is an arbitrary file write vulnerability in Pandoc before version 3.1.6, affecting Debian Linux and Pandoc itself. This flaw allows an attacker to create or overwrite arbitrary files by crafting an image element in the input when generating PDFs or using the --extract-media option. With a CVSS score of 6.3 (Medium), successful exploitation requires user interaction and high attack complexity, but can lead to high integrity and availability impacts.
