CVE-2023-34237 is a critical remote code execution vulnerability in SABnzbd, an open-source Usenet download tool. A design flaw in the Notification Script functionality allows an attacker to manipulate the Parameters setting, leading to code execution with the privileges of the SABnzbd process. This vulnerability has a CVSS score of 9.8 (Critical) due to its network-based attack vector, low complexity, and complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While exploitation requires access to the web interface, remote exploitation is possible if the instance is exposed to the internet without authentication. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion, and it is not listed in the CISA KEV catalog. Patches are available in SABnzbd 4.0.2, and users unable to upgrade should implement username/password authentication for web-accessible instances.
