CVE-2023-31483 is a directory traversal vulnerability in the tar/TarFileReader.cpp component of Cauldron cbang versions prior to bastet-v8.1.17. This flaw allows an unauthenticated attacker to create or overwrite arbitrary files outside the intended extraction directory by providing a specially crafted tar archive. Rated 7.5 HIGH on the CVSS scale, it presents a low-complexity network attack vector with high impact on integrity.
