CVE-2023-31468 describes a local privilege escalation vulnerability in Inosoft VisiWin 7 versions up to 2022-2.1. Weak permissions on the installation directory allow an authenticated attacker to plant a malicious executable, which can then run with SYSTEM privileges. With a CVSS score of 7.8 (High), this vulnerability has a low attack complexity and can lead to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. While there is no evidence of active exploitation, a public exploit (EDB-51682) exists, and a fixed version (2024-1) is available.
