CVE-2023-30856 describes a critical cross-site websocket hijacking vulnerability in eDEX-UI versions 2.2.8 and prior, a science fiction terminal emulator. An attacker can exploit this flaw by tricking a user into visiting a malicious website, which then connects to eDEX-UI's internal websocket to send arbitrary shell commands. With a CVSS score of 10.0 (CRITICAL), this vulnerability allows for complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability, requiring no user interaction beyond visiting a malicious site. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion, and the archived project has no plans for a patch.
