CVE-2023-26246 is a high-severity vulnerability affecting the Hyundai Gen5W_L in-vehicle infotainment system firmware (AE_E_PE_EUR.S5W_L001.001.211214). An attacker can modify the AppUpgrade binary during firmware installation, bypassing digital signature checks and enabling the installation of custom firmware. This local attack, with low complexity and privileges, could lead to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the IVI system. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.
