CVE-2023-24827 is a password disclosure flaw in Syft versions v0.69.0 and v0.69.1, a CLI tool and Go library for generating Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs). This vulnerability leaks the SYFT_ATTEST_PASSWORD environment variable, intended for decrypting private keys during SBOM attestation, through verbose logs and in the syft-json output format. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), the flaw allows for remote password disclosure (C:H) without requiring user interaction (UI:N) or complex attack vectors (AC:L). There is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion, and the issue has been patched in version v0.70.0, with no workarounds available.
