CVE-2022-38725 describes an integer overflow vulnerability in the RFC3164 parser of One Identity syslog-ng versions 3.0 through 3.37, as well as syslog-ng Premium Edition 7.0.30 and syslog-ng Store Box 6.10.0. This flaw allows remote attackers to trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending specially crafted syslog input to the tcp or network functions. Rated 7.5 HIGH on the CVSS scale, the vulnerability is network-exploitable with low attack complexity, requiring no privileges or user interaction, and its primary impact is system availability. Currently, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
