CVE-2022-31482 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting HID Mercury Intelligent Controllers (LP1501, LP1502, LP2500, LP4502, EP4502) with firmware versions prior to 1.29. An unauthenticated attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request to trigger a segmentation fault, leading to a denial-of-service (DoS) condition and device reboot. This vulnerability has a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), indicating it can be exploited remotely with low attack complexity and no user interaction, resulting in complete loss of availability. There is currently no public exploit code available (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), and no evidence of active exploitation or significant community discussion.
