CVE-2022-29277 describes a critical vulnerability in the FwBlockServiceSmm driver, affecting various Intel and AMD platforms. Incorrect pointer checks allow an attacker to trick the SpiAccessLib into writing 0xff to arbitrary system and SMRAM addresses, leading to arbitrary RAM modifications. With a CVSS score of 8.8 (High), this local privilege escalation vulnerability has low attack complexity and can result in complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
