CVE-2022-25166 is a medium-severity vulnerability affecting Amazon AWS VPN Client version 2.0.0. It allows an attacker to craft a malicious OpenVPN configuration file containing a UNC path, which, when imported by a user, causes the client to attempt an open operation on the path. This action inadvertently leaks the user's Net-NTLMv2 hash to an external server, leading to potential credential theft. The attack requires user interaction (UI:R) and local access (AV:L, PR:L), but has high confidentiality impact (C:H). Currently, there is no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
