CVE-2022-23462 describes a stack buffer overflow vulnerability in IOWOW versions 1.4.15 and prior, a C utility library and key/value storage engine. This flaw allows for a Denial of Service (DoS) attack when the software parses JSON containing specially crafted scientific notation numbers. With a CVSS score of 7.5 (High), this vulnerability can be exploited remotely with low attack complexity, requiring no user interaction, and resulting in high availability impact. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
