CVE-2022-21668

29
FAUCET Score

CVE-2022-21668 is a high-severity vulnerability in pipenv versions prior to 2022.1.8, affecting pipenv and Fedora Project distributions. It allows an attacker to embed a malicious index URL within a requirements.txt file comment, tricking pipenv into downloading dependencies from an attacker-controlled server. This can lead to arbitrary remote code execution (RCE) on the victim's system during package installation, as malicious code in setup.py files would be executed. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 8.6 (High) due to its low attack complexity and high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability, requiring user interaction. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this CVE.
