CVE-2022-2120

CVE-2022-2120 is a critical relative path traversal vulnerability affecting all versions of OFFIS DCMTK prior to 3.6.7. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this flaw to write DICOM files into arbitrary directories with controlled names, potentially leading to remote code execution. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with low attack complexity and no user interaction required, posing a high risk to confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Despite its severity, there is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion or media coverage.
