CVE-2021-4178 is an arbitrary code execution flaw in the Fabric8 Kubernetes client, affecting versions 5.0.0-beta-1 and above, as well as several Red Hat products including AMQ Streams, Build of Quarkus, and OpenShift Application Runtimes. The vulnerability stems from improperly configured YAML parsing, allowing a local, privileged attacker to supply malicious YAML. With a CVSS score of 6.7 (Medium), the attack requires local access and high privileges, but if successful, can lead to high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
