CVE-2021-25321 is a local privilege escalation vulnerability affecting the arpwatch utility in various SUSE and openSUSE distributions. A local attacker with control of the runtime user can exploit a symbolic link following vulnerability to gain root privileges upon the next restart of arpwatch. With a CVSS score of 7.8 (High), this vulnerability has low attack complexity and requires local access, but can lead to complete compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. There is currently no public exploit code available, no evidence of active exploitation, and minimal community discussion or media coverage.
