CVE-2021-21344 is a critical remote code execution vulnerability in the XStream Java library, affecting versions prior to 1.4.16, as well as products from Apache, Debian, Oracle, and others that utilize it. This flaw allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to execute arbitrary code by manipulating the input stream, bypassing XStream's default security blacklist. With a CVSS score of 9.8 (CRITICAL) and an EPSS score indicating high exploitability, the vulnerability poses a severe risk of complete compromise (confidentiality, integrity, availability). Despite its severity, there is currently no evidence of active exploitation, publicly available exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage.
