CVE-2021-20587 is a critical heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability affecting numerous Mitsubishi Electric FA Engineering Software products. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by sending crafted reply packets to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) and potentially execute arbitrary code. With a CVSS score of 9.8, this vulnerability is easily exploitable over the network with no user interaction. While the potential for remote code execution has not been reproduced, the DoS impact is confirmed. There is currently no evidence of active exploitation, public exploit code, or significant community discussion surrounding this vulnerability.
