CVE-2021-1368 is a vulnerability in the Unidirectional Link Detection (UDLD) feature of Cisco FXOS and NX-OS Software. An unauthenticated, adjacent attacker could exploit insufficient input validation by sending crafted UDLD packets. This could lead to arbitrary code execution with administrative privileges or a denial of service (DoS) condition, causing device reloads. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 8.8 (High), indicating a significant potential impact. However, exploitation is complex, requiring the attacker to have full control of a directly connected device over a UDLD-enabled port channel, and specific system conditions for arbitrary code execution. Without these conditions, exploitation results in a DoS. Despite the high CVSS score, Cisco assigned a Medium Security Impact Rating due to the strict exploitation requirements. There is no known active exploitation, public exploit code (Metasploit, Nuclei, ExploitDB), or significant community discussion or media coverage surrounding this CVE.
